Creativity and technology meet in the proposals of the young designers who participated in large numbers in Feel the Contest 2024 – Master edition.
Never before in this edition of the competition has the creativity of designers been found to be rich in technical solutions and sophisticated craftsmanship, confirming the most intense path of training that most have followed. The young creatives, coming from prestigious international Fashion and Design Institutes, have been able to express and create their prototypes using the design and processing technologies that knitting machine manufacturers enrich with increasingly sophisticated solutions and which are widely spread in the production markets. But also interesting are the imaginative “handmade” proposals with precise and expert craftsmanship.
Of the 36 projects selected at the start and combined with the 36 spinning mills associated with CPF Consorzio Promozione Filati, 10 won the final selection and during the June edition of Pitti Filati a prestigious jury, accompanied by the votes of the numerous visitors to a dynamic and lively exhibition, announced the winners.
First prize awarded to Viola Schmidt for a complex, flexible outfit, full of alternative processes and customizable wearing solutions. Filatura di Tollegno 1900 yarns have given prominence to textured stitches, elastic ribs, needle dropdowns for refined transparency effects.

Second prize went to Hartej Singh for an outfit inspired by a huge octopus with which he was able to interpret the theme of the “Contradictions” competition by playing with the opposition of shapes. With the yarns from Accademia – Industria Italiana Filati he created a refined, tight-fitting tentacle top, with partial workmanship with a shaded effect, supported by a voluminous, billowing skirt, with alternating tubular and ribbed stitches to highlight the outsized roundness.

Social Winner Mattia Zenere who with Casa del Filato yarns structured a modern outfit, knitted with textured stitches and optical jacquard, “constructed” and stiffened in the silhouette.

Many of the proposals from the other designers participating in the competition were also interesting and received acclaim and attention from the visitors of Pitti Filati.
Nadia Marja Führinger, combined with Botto Giuseppe & Figli spinner, has developed tubular jacquard ramages with sculptural details. A tubular motif gathered in the center of the garment uses elastic threads to give plasticity and hold to the stitch.

With the Servizi and Seta yarns, Pascal Gracian Dyrna has created complex weaves for graphic mesh effects of various sizes and fashioned details to precisely underline the fit to the body.

Michele Fumagalli, combined with Monticolor, plays with strong color contrasts in large, shaped ribbing to give new proportion to voluminous and enveloping sleeves.
